George Rogers Clark's Powder Run

Several members of the community joined the Friends of Fort Harrod and the Colonel James Harrod Chapter SAR in a commemoration of the Powder Run led by George Rogers Clark (GRC) in 1777.  This event started at the GRC memorial at Old Fort Harrod State Park and included a brief discussion of the history and significance of the event, provided by Richard Quire, a member of both organizations coordinating this event.  The SAR then provided a musket salute as part of the memorial.  The event included a short walking tour of various historical landmarks within the city of Harrodsburg, culminating at the Big Spring.  

This event is held annually, so please plan to join us at next year's event in January 2027!
